Mai repressed a roll of her eyes, but allowed a sigh to pass though her lips. Aside from that, her expression only lifted from a scowl to one of disinterest.
❝ Just don’t attract unwanted attention.”
She didn’t bother digging into specific with the other woman. Frankly, she didn’t care if she was having some sort of trouble nor did she have any intention of offering help to speed things up. Whatever she was doing, it seemed like dirty work and Mai wasn’t interested in having to scrape grime from beneath her nails later on. Potting plants was enough mess for Mai, thank you.
However, while what the woman was doing didn’t really interest her, the object she was fiddling with did gain her attention. It looked mechanical, that much she knew, but aside from that it was something entirely foreign to her.
❝ … what is that thing? A weapon?”
If it weren’t for the fact she hadn’t heard footsteps retreating or a door closing, Asami might have thought the girl had left. The silence that prevails isn’t an uncomfortable one, however she can feel the other’s gaze on her —- or rather, the thing she’s working on.
Her hands work diligently; cranking and tightening; loosening and moving things about.
“A weapon? Of course not. It’s a bike. At least, it’s going to be. A faster one, at that.”
Not like the rudimentary pedal bikes that prevailed. This was going to be the stepping stone for greater progress. She just needed to add some things to its design. Preferably some sort of chassis that would protect the engine her father had designed.
