Asami isn’t a virgin (before you ask, no she didn’t do the do with Mako). She lost her virginity when she was seventeen to a guy she had been dating for a while at the time. Despite this, she isn’t the kind of easy girl that jumps quickly into bed with guys she likes. It takes, at the very least, a few months of dating for Asami to feel she can trust someone enough to be that vulnerable — or, to trust that they aren’t simply trying to bed her then leave her.

In light of that, her relationship with Mako never reached a sexual point, and– considering how things ended between them – she’s glad that it didn’t.
