Mako let out his own chuckle as he put his hands into his pockets. “I think you mean detective now,” he said with a slightly wider smirk. He was still a little shocked he had gotten the promotion and he wasn’t about to let others forget that. But then again he did owe it to Asami for helping him get the promotion so he drop the matter there. Besides, out of anyone he trusted her to know that this was one of those rare times where he openingly teasing.
“Is now a bad time?” he asked with a raised brow. “If you’re busy then I can come back later.” He might have wanted her to check his bike but not if she was busy. From what he understood she was still trying to save her father’s company from going under and Mako didn’t want to get in the way of that. Shrugging his shoulders he answered, “I’ve been a little busy. Bei Fong still has me looking into some gang related cases but she also has be doing other things. Most of that stuff is just trying to find a way to deal with the spirits in the city she’s been trying to push that off until Korra can come and help.” He glanced around before focusing on her again with the same slightly worried expression he had before. “I just came by to see if you wanted to get something to eat. I’m on my break now and Bo is busy training with the Fire Ferrets. But really if you’re busy then I’ll just leave you to it.”
Detective. Right. She’d almost forgotten
– almost, because he had a habit of
reminding everyone about it, and maybe
calling him ‘officer’ was her own way of
teasing him. She was happy for him, though,
truly. The clang of metal and quiet conversations
between workers as they go about their jobs fills
the factory with a steady din, and, glancing around
Asami can see that everyone is hard at work to
reach the upcoming deadline. Maybe she could
get away for a bit. For lunch, if nothing else.
“No no, you’re fine. I’m busy, yes, but not
too busy to take a break. If I don’t take one
now I might never actually sit down,” she
laughs, removing her gloves to slip them in
her back pocket. The mention of food has her
stomach growling in protest. A bite to eat would
probably do wonders for her energy level. “Just
give me a minute,” she smiles, and then calls
over one of the higher-up employees, informing
him that she was stepping out for a bit and to
make sure everything stayed on schedule until
she returned. Then she joined Mako again.
“How is Bolin, by the way? I feel so out of the
loop with everyone lately.” Not that work had
helped in that factor.
