Anonymous ASKED: Okay so explain to me a thing: is the Kuro fandom that bad?

Eh, well, that’s kind of a hard question to answer, because I’m not really active in it anymore. I mean, I still have my Rachel Phantomhive account, but I don’t really go on it much due to lack of muse and general interest in the series anymore.

However, at the time that I was actively in the fandom, it was pretty bad. It was mostly due to ship wars (which I think is typical in any fandom, really) but like in the Kuro fandom, people would get hate for not shipping SebCiel or there was the opposite spectrum of how dare you ship a child with an adult male you sick pedophile. And at the time I was active, there was literally no compromise or “ship and let ship” between roleplayers.

There was also a lot of personal drama between a particular group of rpers who were quite popular but had differing opinions and it got to the point where the whole fandom was picking sides and death threats were going around and just, ugh it was a mess.

Don’t get me wrong, though, there are some fantastic gems there and it’s the fandom where I met fxrelord and monotonxus, so it’s not all bad. You just have to know who to follow and who to avoid. My second time around playing Rachel, I cleaned out my following list and followed only a few friends and people who I knew weren’t the type to stir drama, and that made things a whole lot better.

Like I said, though, I haven’t been active there in recent months so I can’t say how the fandom is now, but if you’re looking to maybe get into the fandom then I’d say go for it— just be careful. c: I’ve seen some recent Kuro rpers crop up that are really great and will hopefully bring a more positive light to the fandom, because despite all the toxicity, I did have fun with the friends I made.
